Video : Temple Devotees In Karur, India Crack Coconuts On Their Heads For Divine Intervention

by Trendy on August 6, 2009

In a bizarre ritual in the Mahalaxmi temple of Karur, India (Tamil Nadu State), devotees are lining up to have coconuts broken on their heads.  The devotees believe that they are seeking divine intervention by doing this and will benefit in their personal lives. All I can see happening here is people ending up with broken skulls and bones.  In the following video , you can see that the priest goes on a coconut breaking frenzy on the heads of devotees. The state administration is unwilling to take any action as this practice is connected with “religious beliefs”.
