Michael Phelps Suspended For 3 Months, Loses Kellogg Cereal Endorsement Deal After Marijuana Pipe Episode

by Trendy

Olympic great Michael Phelps was today suspended by USA Swimming for a period of 3 months. This action was taken by USA Swimming after the recent Michael Phelps Marijuana pipe incident. The $1,750 that Phelps receives as monthly stipend will also be stopped for 3 months until May.

Phelps agent Drew Johnson released a statement and said “He feels bad he let anyone down. He’s also encouraged by the thousands of comments he’s received from his fans and the support from his many sponsors. He intends to work hard to regain everyone’s trust.”

Phelps is also beginning to feel the financial effects of his stupidity. Cereal maker Kellogg has said that it will not renew its contract with the swimming sensation. Phelps’ endorsement deal with Kellogg ends at the end of this February. Other Phelps’ sponsors – Subway, Visa, Speedo and Omega have said that they are accepting his apology and will continue to have Phelps as their brand ambassador.

Phelps will now be more closely watched than before. The man who created history by winning a record haul of gold medals will now have to watch his actions and be more careful while in public.
