In what is now the fourth incident of crime against Indian Students studying in the United States, Soumya Reddy was shot dead in chicago. Soumya Reddy was shot by an unidentified person. She was in the US studying for her Masters degree. Reddy was already a qualified doctor after completing her MBBS degree back home in India. Her dead body was found in a car near the Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville, where she was studying. Soumya hails from the village of Kadam Mandal in Andhra Pradesh state of India.
Three other Indian students have been murdered on US university campuses in the last few months. Akkaldevi Srinivas, who was also a doctor from Andhra Pradesh, was found dead in a pool of blood in Pennsylvania. Prior to that, two PhD doctoral students Chandrasekhar Reddy Komma and Kiran Kumar Allam, were found shot dead in their apartment at the Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.
Correction : Soumya Tummala Reddy was actually pursuing a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering (MS) and did not possess a MBBS degree.
