The General Motors Corporation has said that it will invest $500 million in the United States to help build its next generation compact cat, The Chevy Cruze. The Chevrolet Cruze will be mostly built in GM’s plant in Lordstown,Ohio.
The Car will debut at the Paris Motor Show in October this year and is scheduled for launch in Europe and Asia Pacific next year. The Chevy Cruze is one of the cars that GM is building to improve its image as a company that can also produce fuel efficient cars. The competition from Toyota and Honda has made the big american car companies GM and Ford struggle in sales in their own backyards. The Chevrolet Cruze, says GM, will give drivers a 40 MPG fuel efficiency.
GM released pictures of the Chevy Cruze this morning and Wall Street Journal says :
Photos of the Cruze, released Thursday, show a four-door car with an arching roof line, extending from the steeply raked windshield to its sloping rear pillars and short rear deck. The car is wider and longer than most of its competitors, with its wheels at the outer edges of the bodywork.
