Bangladesh Fishermen at Mongla netted a rare ganges river dolphin and beat it to death. Mongla is near the sunderbans mangrove forest in the southern bangladesh.
The fishermen had never seen a river dolphin and assumed it to be a rare fish. They beat the dolphin to death and tried hard to sell it as a rare fish. They finally gave up and dumped the dolphin in front of a musuem.
The Ganges River dolphin inhabits the murky waters of the Ganges River and can be spotted only when it surfaces to breathe. Thus, they are very rarely seen, according to the World Wildlife Fund Web site.
